About the Institution

Comilla Zilla School is a prominent boys' school in Comilla, established on July 20, 1837, by Englishmen Henry George Leicester. It was founded to teach English literature and science by the British Indian government. Starting with just 37 students, it operated under the University of Calcutta from 1857. The school occupies approximately 5.69 acres in the center of Comilla town.

  • S. D. Burman - Renowned music director and singer in Bollywood.
  • Dhirendranath Datta - Notable lawyer and politician who advocated for Bengali to be an official language of Pakistan.
  • Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan - Chief of Army Staff from 2012 to 2015.
  • Shib Narayan Das - Recognized as one of the creators of the first national flag of Bangladesh.
  • Gazi Mazharul Anwar - Lyricist and filmmaker who won seven Bangladesh National Film Awards.
  • Asif Akbar - Popular Bangladeshi singer.
